Is there a Latch system in 2005 Ford Explorers?

There is a latch system in MOST cars 2002 on. Double check your owners manual!

There should be. I think it became standard in 2001 or 2002. Did you try your user manual?

I wonder if they're buried really deep in the seat?? In my trailblazer, I actually have to tilt the seat forward a bit (like tilt the back part of the seat forward, opposite of recline) in order to access the lower anchors, latch the carseat, tilt the vehicle seat back to "normal", then tighten...kind of a pain in the butt, but it works.

Yes, each outboard seat in the second row will have anchors. No LATCH in the third row. Look for a little picture near the seat bight and then feel right there in the bight and they will be there. There is no center LATCH.

Yep. There are 2 little square-shaped anchors in the seat bight (crack) for the driver's side and passenger side 2nd row. None in the middle. If you're talking about top tethers, there are rings on the floor behind the 2nd row, and the cargo hooks double for tether hooks for the 3rd row (or 2nd row if you have a 2-row vehicle).
