Reusable kleenex's. Tell me what you know....

After going through about 4 boxes of kleenex's over the last couple of weeks, I've realized that it's time for reusable kleenexes in our home. I'm not sure what I should get though. I think I'd want something soft, as to not have your nose get sore from blowing it often. Any ideas? I'm sure somebody probably makes something like this, but I don't know who. Spam is gladly welcome. I'm wondering also if some cloth wipes would do, they'd be about the right size I would think. TIA

Ummm.. Handkerchiefs? Or for something thicker, velour cloth wipes would be good. I have used ours to wipe noses, wet or dry.

Re: Reusable kleenex's. Tell me what you know....

We have recently converted to cloth toilet paper (I believe it's called "family cloth" LOL) and I just use that to blow my nose. I made them with 2 layers of high quality flannel. Haven't noticed any bad side effects yet

Re: Reusable kleenex's. Tell me what you know....

I made single-ply flannel 8" x 8" serged handkerchiefs for my 7-almost-8 year old to use; he said he liked them but seems to prefer his shirt

Anyway, I've tried them and they are quite nice. A bit on the fluffy side (weird, right...single-layer flannel isn't exactly thick) but when you're used to a thin Kleenex then flannel seems fluffy. I think I might personally prefer the thin-ness of inexpensive cotton wovens, but the flannel is really soft. And when you are sick, it's really NICE to have the extra absorbency flannel seems to provide.

ETA --> it just occurred to me that maybe my son would prefer them to be made out of upcycled T-shirts

I made napkins out of 7x7 2 layer flannel and use them on noses too. Super easy and I haven't had a problem yet. Except we don't have enough to get us through a week when we all have a cold.

Re: Reusable kleenex's. Tell me what you know....

we were going through a TON about 2 yrs ago & I got sick of buying paper tissues. we now use 8x8 single layer serged edged pieces of flannel. they work great & I store them in an old plastic disposable wipes container.
