My phone just took its last blow. Now what?

I had my phone in my coat pocket and it flew out when I went to put my coat on. The battery and back flew off. I put it back together and tried to turn it on but only the top 1/2 in of the screen is working. I've removed the battery and tried again a few times...... Still nothing.

So here's my issue. We have insurance but Sprint still makes you pay for the replacement. We are planning on leaving Sprint at the end of this billing cycle. So I really don't want to pay for a new phone if we're leaving. I could do the super cheapie phone if they have one just we have a plan with two data packages. So should I cut my loss and get the cheap phone? Our bill cycles on the 3rd of the month. So we just started a new month.

If you are considering a cheaper phone- could you switch carriers all together?
We have tracfones and love them- they cost us about $7 a month.
We use ipod touches for everything else- texting and web anywhere there is wifi.

if you get the cheap one, wouldn't you still be extending your contract? I would ask around...when my phone bit the dust a week or so ago (and before I found out they were gonna send me a new one, no prob), I found a blackberry and razr free, just by asking.

Check Craigslist for a used phone that works with Sprint. Use of for a months and resell it when you switch overe.

Or, if you can afford it now, just go ahead and get the new phone with the new carrier. Yes, you'll have to overlap plans for a month, but you won't have to buy a phone just for one month.

We are switching carriers but our bill is the same price now matter when you cancel in the month. Our bill cycle just started on December 3rd so we have a whole month and I have a phone with a black screen. We are not willing to down grade service. I just need to figure out what to do for the rest of December.

I wouldn't bother getting a new phone with Sprint. You'd be better off money wise to just switch now and pay a little extra for the month.

Put an add on your local Free cycle. If you can't find one, I agree with going ahead and starting your new contract with your new carrier and having an overlapping plan for a month.

This. I'd double check with Sprint as which phones you can add that won't change or extend the plan. It's how they are forcing people with old phones/plans to an expensive plan.

Craigslist should have cheap phones though. If you can't find any let me know too as we have an older LG phone you can have.
