Re: Soo...whats the LEAST number of dipes you could get away with?
With sposies as a backup, I'd say 7 or 8. We'd have to wash daily, and would use disposables at night. My guess though, is that they would wear out fast, so not sure how long those 7 or 8 would last.

Well we use disposables at night so with washing every other day I could get away with like 16. I managed to diaper a newborn with 12 diapers. I washed multiple times a day. Not good for one's sanity!

Re: Soo...whats the LEAST number of dipes you could get away with?
18 is the lowest I have gone with my oldest and when DD was a newborn. It was fine but not ideal. I'm trying to streamline now for DS2 to 36. DD has 6 night diapers.

Re: Soo...whats the LEAST number of dipes you could get away with?
I once had 12 pockets for a stretch while I was figuring some things out and saving funds.
It was awful!!!! I had to wash every day and I hated it. I could certainly do it again if I had to, but honestly, I think I would switch to sposies first. It made me hate cloth diapering. This time, I built a stash of 36 b/c I realized I am the happiest when I wash every 3rd day. Cloth just doesn't bother me at all then. |

Re: Soo...whats the LEAST number of dipes you could get away with?
For my nearly 18mo, I could get away with 18 prefolds and 3 covers if I had to, washing every other day. I have more prefolds and a few more covers though

Re: Soo...whats the LEAST number of dipes you could get away with?
YDD is in one diaper for 12 hours at night, so during the day, she is changed every 2.5 hours or so. So absolutely least? Probably 7-8 diapers. But you'd have to wash at night and dry at night, so they would be ready in the morning. And they would wear out super fast.

I think 12 would be an absolute minimum for us at this point, but I wouldn't want to do that. Too much washing for me and for the diapers... I feel like having so few would cost as much/more as having a good sized stash in the long run because they'd wear out so much more quickly.
