Re: Pay it off now? Or wait til tax time?

Something else to consider is you can usually bargain with SOME creditors. Say you want to pay your debt but would like to only pay xxx amount. Sometimes they'll take a couple hundred off the final price if you are willing to pay it all off. Couldn't hurt to ask!

I would pay half of the amount now and half with taxes you'd still have money in savings and you'd still build credit.

If one of you doesn't have perfect credit I think repairing that can of worms must be priority #1.

I'm not counting on getting anything at tax time (fiscal cliff and all that jazz)...I'd pay it now...and don't count your tax return chickens before they're hatched.

If you need to build credit I'd wait. You can always add to how much you're paying each month. That will save you interest and get rid of your debt faster, while building your credit and keeping your savings intact
