Just wondering... But why are you guys getting your blood tested for vitamin D? Nursing while pregnant?

I only know my level b.c my MW tested it during mmy first blood draw. No clue why she checked it. But she did, and told me it is very high. Lol.

I was tested when I had ppd. I live in an area without a lot of sun in the winter. My dr said there is a link w low vit d levels and depression.

Re: Vitamin D - better to go over or under?

I take 4000 IU of vitamin d3 per day so is vote that you supplement over rather than under. I read a very interesting article about a study done on pregnant women, it claimed that vitamin d3 supplementation of 4000 IU reduced rates of Placenta problems, preeclampsia and preterm labor. I had also read an article (not as soundly supported imo) that being vitamin d deficient during labor caused more painful labors.

I use Garden of Life raw d3 supplements. They kind of taste like farts to be honest but if they absorb well I'll deal.

I get really depressed when I don't take my Vit D3. I usually take a lot, too.
