Re: Who wants to help me play with floor plans for a tiny house??

I would think those stairs aren't safe for toddlers. Especially if both want to go first, which will happen I would put the bathroom under the stairs. And if they are wide enough you can put the washer/dryer side by side under the stairs part. If that makes sense. Do you want a bedroom for you and your hubby? Or will you sleep in the living room, or upstairs with your kids?

I found these for inspiration. Hope they help
http://www.architecturaldesigns.com/...an-11546kn.asp
http://www.architecturaldesigns.com/...674PM.asp-this one, you could put some small stairs going up through the living space. under it you can put storage or even a chair.
http://www.architecturaldesigns.com/...n-44098TD.asp- this one I would change the porch to inside space. us it for a space for w/d, and storage, and stair to go up to a loft.

yeah, I didn't think about them fighting over the stairs...they fight about everything else so why not haha?

I can only see the first link, the rest won't come up for me.

Oh, and the top would be two lofts with a catwalk between them. So we would have a loft and they would have a loft. We figure eventually we could add on a master bedroom on the bottom and a dining room...that would increase our living space and give each kid their own loft.

I like the idea of using rope. I figure no matter how steep (or not) they end up being we will do a rail of some sort...and the stairs will certainly be by a wall as well.

Spiral staircase? Smaller footprint and you wouldn't have the awkwardness of trying to use the triangular space underneath.

Our drop down attic-like stairs? Whatever they're called. Not sure how convenient that is though.

That's weird. Well I went to the website of the first link, and put in 400 as a max sq footage, and in country homes, and I clicked one full bath.

That sounds so fun! Have you considered alternating tread stairs? They are very space saving. Also maybe a European style combo washer/dryer in one to save space?

We have thought a lot about a spiral...DH thinks he can make one. We MAY do that. I was just wondering if I was missing something you know...some secret way to save space haha. If it weren't for the kids we would build a latter going strait up a wall. But we need them to be able to get to their own rooms.

I have seen those stairs. There is one set DH really loves where each step is like a triangle...alternating which side has the wide side, kwim?

I thought about the washer/dryer combo too but I have heard that they don't work all that well at both. And I think the dryer would be electric then and that would suck a bunch of power (solar powered house)

But I HAVE thought about a convection oven. One that is a microwave and an oven?? We use both often enough to justify both....but if we could have 1 that does both jobs that would be awesome. But I don't know anything about them. Anyone have one?

Convection ovens work great. I use one in my classroom. There was a bit of a problem with them several years ago, so don't buy a used one. The new ones are upgraded and fairly inexpensive.

I think you should consider a wall of storage that includes EVERYTHING, like this:

Then the stairs wont seem so hard to fit
