Re: Let's talk weight gain

I am 26 weeks and gained about 9 lbs, starting weight 135 lbs. I am really hoping to gain less than 30lbs. I gained 28lbs with DS and I was heavier when I got pregnant last time about 155 lbs.

Re: Let's talk weight gain

I've gained 7 pounds at 31 weeks, but I started out overweight. My midwife and Doctor have been pretty calm about it. They are pretty much of the mindset if i gain or lose they don't care as long as I am eating correctly. I've also been dealing with extremely low blood sugar so I've been eating more consistently, or trying at least, to deal with that.

Re: Let's talk weight gain

I'm 27 weeks today and have gained 19lbs so far. So far this is the least weight I've gained in a pregnancy....usually I gain 40lbs. I'm hoping to keep it under 30lbs if possible but we'll see how that goes...the last trimester is hard!

I'm up 12 or 13 pounds at 29ish weeks. It's steadily going up, just slowly. I'm curious to see what happens when I go on the GD diet. I'm meeting my nutritionist next week FINALLY (the holidays are making appointments a little tricky). It's been so obnoxious to know since Christmas Eve that I have GD, but with no idea what to do, really. I know I have to watch carbs, but not eliminate them...and of course I have no idea how anything is actually affecting my sugars. But, yeah, I totally didn't get to pig out for Christmas so my waistline (ha!) has something to be thankful for!

Re: Let's talk weight gain

the gd diet is easy. you just have to watch your sugars and carbs intake. you also have to balance your meals a bit more than you normally would and you may find that you have to eat more often. i had gd with lucian and have it again with aurelia. it's "worse" this time because i'm actually taking medicine for it. my fasting numbers were in the high 90s and they're supposed to be 60-90. the worst part about gd is having to prick your finger 3-4 times a day.

Thanks! It helps to get advice and words of wisdom from people who've been there, done that. I'm sure I'll be fine once we get this worked out. I just feel horrible all the time and I really think it's because my sugars are all over the place. I slept for 11 hours the night before, took a nap again around 8pm, went to bed at 1am, and slept again until 10. Plus I'm getting weird dizzy spells. Maybe it's related to the diabetes, maybe it's not. I'm also battling a cold, so my poor body is going through a lot! I'm just not very hungry for the most part, so that's definitely been affecting my weight gain. This has been such a weird pregnancy!
