Crockpot idea for a crowd
We are having a family get together next weekend for DDs 9th birthday, we also will have a 2 week old at that time (have 4 kiddos total) so want to do something easy as far as food. I've decided to do a potluck and I'll make the main course along with cake. I was thinking something in the crockpot, maybe meatballs with marinara sauce but not sure. Any easy ideas that don't cost a fortune?

Re: Crockpot idea for a crowd
I do barbeque chicken a lot for potlucks. Super easy! Just put a bunch of boneless chicken breasts in the crockpot with a bottle of bbq sauce. Cook on high for 4 hours. Then shred the chicken with a couple of forks, add more bbq sauce if you need to and serve on buns.

Re: Crockpot idea for a crowd
Mac & Cheese can be done in the crockpot and it's pretty good. Also, little smokies simply covered in brown sugar (usually only takes 1-2 hours for the sugar to melt down on low and it's really yummy!)

Re: Crockpot idea for a crowd
We did a "soup bar" once for a family party and it was good. I think we had three crockpots full of a different soup each, then everyone brought potluck sides to go with it. You could also do chili in the crock pot, throw a bunch of baked potatoes in the oven, and get some other toppings for a baked potato bar.

Re: Crockpot idea for a crowd
The easiest, cheapest and yummiest crowd pleaser I use is ground streak sandwiches. Just put ground chuck in crockpot with 1/2 cup water per pound of chuck. Cook on low checking and chopping up meat. Add flour about 30'min before serving. I do around a tablespoon per pound. I also add powdered milk and salt and pepper while cooking. Let guests serve themselves with buns, tomato, mustard, slaw, mayo. Everyone always raves about it andits so easy. Leftovers freeze well too so I always cook extra to stash.

You can put hotdogs in a crockpot. Just add water as it evaporates.
