Wouldn't it be wonderful if all parents would follow up like they are supposed to and care for their kids at home the way they should? Unfortunately, that is not the case. The doctors give it as a shot in the hospital because there are parents who would not bother to give it at home. Just like there are parents who won't buy the $5 antibiotics for their sick child because they would rather spend the money on their cigarettes. . Yes it happens...more than you think. As an ER nurse I see it all and never cease to be amazed.
