Rice in a hot air popcorn popper?

Has anyone done this? Was it a disaster?

Have you tried anything else in the popper?

Just had some ideas and I'd rather ask about it first before destroying my popper.

Just curious - why would you put rice in there? Would it puff up?! Mine has little vents at the bottom that I would think the rice would get stuck in.

Mine has a fine mesh covering at the bottom. The rice (unless it broke into tiny bits maybe?) couldn't get stuck in there, but yes. I was thinking of puffed rice.

I was also wondering what type of rice worked if anyone did this.

Puffed rice is made with pressure, so the heat of an air popper won't do it.

not to mention doesn't it also suck up the water to get it to puff? I don't think Hot air would do that..unless you wanted hot rice to stick in a sock maybe? lol

You can roast coffee in it.
