Pagan homeschooling?
I'm interested in a pagan homeschooling curriculum similar to a Christian one, only not Christian but Earth based spirituality. Anyone have any resources. I found an old thread on MDC about a couple mamas developing a pagan curriculum but nothing ever came of it as far as I know.

Re: Pagan homeschooling?
I'm not sure on that but I've seen others' on here recommend secularhomeschool.com for non religious homeschoolers. Would that kind of be the same thing? Maybe you could find out something there. And maybe some mama's will pipe in here too.

Re: Pagan homeschooling?
Hmmmm Oak Meadow comes to mind. Not necessarily pagan but secular and earthy.
Charlotte Mason method is very into nature.. and religion, so you almost have to take the style and build your own curriculum with it. I would love something that had a very Native American feel, but short of writing it myself, I don't believe it exists.

Re: Pagan homeschooling?
My hubby is also part Native, and so is my sister (half sister), and though I never looked hard enough to know for sure, I believe my father had a good percentage as well.
I have noticed that the sugar coating isn't what it used to be. If you really want to show your kids how Natives were treated way back when (and even still now in many areas and instances), find a vintage text.. but don't do it until your kids are old enough to handle it. I have one that was an elementary text that I will share with my kids come middle school age. It definitely gives me an even more bitter taste in my mouth over how the Natives were treated. I do wish something was out there.. but I don't think there is. I know there is a man who writes books that are real and honest... I can't think of the name though

Re: Pagan homeschooling?
My DH and I have talked about this and he's intent on telling her the truth in Kindergarten when she comes home from school with a pilgrim hat and "Indian" hat. He grew up in Klamath Falls, OR (part Klamath Indian) and it wasn't sugar coated there, probably since there's such a high percentage of Indians there. One of many reasons why I'm entertaining homeschooling.
