Re: Newborn help.

Just an update. I had a Lactation consultant come and she helped so much. She adjusted my latch and weighed baby before and after. She was already up 1 oz. Since her lowest weight and after eating was up another ounce. she said 4 wet diapers was okay. for today.

I feel so relieved. thanks everyone for your input.

Re: Newborn help.

It WILL get easier mama! I nursed DS2 after birth and for his first day before he spent 3 weeks in the NICU and I hated it then. It was hard and gave me the worst afterbirth pains (though that's how I knew he was doing it right lol). I nursed at least once a day during the NICU stay but mainly EPed until he was 10 weeks old. I never gave up trying to BF and one day it just seemed to click, like everyone tells you. It was amazing. He's had 1 or 2 bottles since (now 4 months) and we're finally starting to nurse without the shield. We still have improvements to make but you'd never tell he wasn't a boob man. His weight gain did seem to slow a tiny bit and we have a WCC in a week but he's peeing and pooping like a champ.

Keep doing what your doing. Baby isn't even a week old- things will fall into place soon. The first 6 weeks are the hardest. Great job!
