Re: Small babies

My dd was 14lbs at a year. She too was below the standard weight curve (but still gaining weight over time). By about 3 years old she stopped being tiny and was just on the smaller side compared to her peers. Now, at 8, she is average for height and about 25th percentile for weight.

I worried about her size a little when she was a baby. But, she was always active, alert and meeting developmental milestones.

Try to relax!

Re: Small babies

I was just under 14 pounds at 12 months and stayed off the charts for the next 5 years. I turned out to be an average sized, happy, healthy, semi-normal, somewhat well-adjusted adult.

Re: Small babies

I have a few friends with teeny girls. My dd1 was/is tiny too. She didn't weigh 40lbs until she was 7.

I kind of figured that as long as she either got taller or heavier as the months went by that she was probably ok. She isn't a big eater and her favourite foods tend to be lower calories ones.
