Diaper Swappers

My ds wants to learn to count by 5's and 10's so he can tell time other than just the hour.
But the only thing I can come up with is repetitive songs (and mine is boring) and we have been filling in the blanks on a dry erase board.
We have also been playing with dried beans.(but he has lost interest in my game, and quickly)
On 5's We have gone over the fact that with the exception of 10,15,and 100 every ending is 5 or TY and that it has to end in a 5 or 0.
We have not started with 10's yet other than just counting at random times.
Who has some fun for 4 year old things to throw at me?

Not necessarily fun, but it might help him to grasp it better, would be to show him how to find the area by counting 5s and 10s. Draw a grid that is in rows of 5 and show him through that.

He actually just came up with a game he likes with Legos!

Can he count to a hundred by ones? Does he get one-to-one correspondence?

At newly 4, I'd work on those things over skip counting by 5s and 10s. Usually kids aren't developmentally ready at that age and it could be why he's not retaining it.

There is a leapfrog math video that has a fun counting by 5s ditty.

He has been counting to 100 by ones since he was 2. He "gets" the idea of counting by 5's. he can get to 50 and then stops. I am looking for fun ways to practice it.
Eta: I just saw your leap frog reference. I will have to check it out. He LOVES leapfrog.
