the flu shot-- not a debate, just a poll

Hate to be Debbie downer but your not out of the woods. I am 99% sure DD had the flu and strep before me. I know strep for sure but other symptoms were same as my confirmed influenza B. She was never tested for the flu. I forget how long she had her symptoms before I got mine. I know over a week.

I have had the flu shot every year for at least the last 19 years (started getting it in college) and haven't had the flu in at least 10 years.

No flu shot here. SIL had confirmed untyped influenza A just days after visiting, and we all got sick as well. But no fevers, no bodyaches, etc, just exhaustion, and lots and lots of snot and coughing.

I have never had the flu shot and also never had the flu.
My kids and dh all have had their shots, and also no flu. None of us have ever had it, and this is the first year the kids have gotten the vax. Dh has had the vax before, bc he works in the ER and sees a lot of it. He has said this year is really bad for flu - much worse than a couple of years ago, with the h1n1 panic. He had 8 confirmed cases of flu in one shift (and he maybe sees 10-12 patients per 12 hour shift).

Eta - I will probably get the shot, one of these days.

The flu? I don't know, I do still get sick sometimes but I recover pretty quickly.

We all got the flu at Christmas time except for the baby. I think he was spared because I got it first and he's breastfeeding, so he got the antibodies. We don't get the shot. Plenty of rest, fluids, and medicine and we got through it just fine.

We shall see! I'm feeling pretty confident, however!

ETA: And, hope you're both feeling better now. I had strep throat last year and it was just the worst!!

My husband, myself, and my children all got the shot and none of us have had the flu. The only people I know who have gotten the flu did not get the shot.

And that's my anecdote.
