Re: Thinking about quitting and i feel like a failure

I agree with the mamas who say to find a LC. your insurance company might be able to recommend one too. Both of my kids had reflux -- one mostly formula-fed, one exclusively breast-fed. Didn't make a difference, and it was worse with my formula-fed child. It just took time to outgrow it. No one has mentioned this yet, but sometimes they throw up because they keep eating after they are full. If you are getting lots of wet diapers and the occasional poopy one, your baby should be getting enough to eat.
I know it can be frustrating, but you've made it this far! Hang in there!

Yesterday we went to the dr and she was put on Alimentum for her lack of weight gain. We have 3 weeks to get her weight up but continuing to nurse plus several bottles of this or we go to the ped GI... It's just like the hits keep coming I'm going to see an LC next week but I may give up trying I'm just so worn down

Listen, you do what you can do. Don't beat yourself up or stress yourself out to the point of depression. Your baby is going to turn out to be an amazing little stinker breast milk, formula or something in-between.

If you feel that you still want to protect your nursing relationship (even if you only supplement with breast milk) make sure you use bottles with slow flow nipples. Personally I've had the best success with The First Years Breastflow Bottles but I know some moms like the Tommee Tippee bottles and also there is one called mimijumi bottle that are all supposed to mimic the breast. For me, they protected my son's latch and kept him preferring the breast when he could get it.

I know how this feels. I was a wicked mess when I was struggling to breastfeed my first. Always remember, the bad moms are not the moms who feed their babies formula- the bad moms are the moms who don't feed their babies. <3 <3 <3

You can also make high quality formula yourself if it comes to that. Have you tried CST or chiropractic.
