Re: Is the OB office not taking me seriously?

I have hypothyroidism as well and my OB did bloodwork every 4-6 weeks throughout all 4 of my pregnancies. Most of the time my Synthroid dosage needed to be adjusted with pregnancy. I'm surprised your doctor doesn't check it more often. I was told ignored thyroid disease could case miscarriage.

Well the pcp said something does sound off. She was willing to test a bunch of stuff. Thyroid, full panel, vitamins, blood sugar, I thought she said a couple other things as well...can't remember. But they did do an a1c today and it was 5.2 which is the exact same # as 4 months ago! Yay! But I have to go into the office Monday morning to do all the other tests fasting. Other then that not much else has been done at this point. But according to this am weigh in I've gained 16lbs . Ill update with any news I get next week.

I'm glad to see your pcp took you more seriously. I hope they find the cause of all your issues. I would have asked for vit B and vit D also to be checked. I just found out my vit d and iron is low, and that's why my body aches, I'm freezing all the time, and I'm soooo tired, and dizzy.

Good luck to you! It sounds a lot like your thyroid is acting up, especially with the weight changes. I hope it all levels out for you in the end

I'm really glad you are getting checked out as well. From everything I have read and been told, it is extremely important to monitor thyroid issues during pregnancy and that most women experience worsening thyroid response during pregnancy because of the increased demand for hormones. I see an endocrinologist and he's checking me monthly during my pregnancy.

Re: Is the OB office not taking me seriously?

Glad everything looks good, hopefully the rest of your tests do as well. I've been extremely exhausted this pregnancy and everything is coming up normal for me! People tell me it is because I have three other children but they are in school all day! I've napped ALMOST every day this pregnancy....

Everything is normal. Hoorah! I'm glad everything checked out okay. I started taking a complete vit D supp, I figured it wouldn't hurt, and apparently my body needs it because I tried taking it a few years ago and it always made me sick! But not this time.
I've noticed my energy coming back a little, so I'm not sure if its the vit d or if its because I'm not sick anymore, or maybe a combination. I still have bad days though, but thats to be expected I guess.

So, thyroid was normal, A1C was normal, blood sugar normal and the complete panel was normal. My weight gain has slowed down also, from 16-17 weeks I gained .5lb and from 17-18 weeks I gained almost a pound, which is awesome because I was gaining pounds a week!
