I had someone give me some towels with washcloths sewn on as hoods. They are very useful and cute. They are regular size towels, not baby size so we can still use them.

Re: What to make for expectant friend
Do you do pinterest? I've found really useful things on there.

They were so easy I added knit caps to match. http://www.quiltingdaily.com/media/p/24018.aspx http://prudentbaby.com/2011/02/baby-...at-tutorial-2/

Mitts.
I couldn't find them anywhere. I got one pair from a nurse who knits for all the moms in her unit. Other than those I used socks to cover my babies hand. Is she going to nurse? Some booby soothers (round pads with rice fillings to either heat or cool). |

Re: What to make for expectant friend
I second this. LOVE our one hoodie towel we have. I'm not a big fan of knitted or crocheted blankets for babies. My babies always seem to get their fingers through the holes and then they get stuck and scream. I'm also not a fan of traditional "burp rags". I find flats to be AWESOME as burp rags. Plus they have enough area to actually be useful. Maybe you could cuten up some flats as burp rags.
