preventing thrush?

After ten days of terribly scabbed nipples and tons of pain I think I've fixed my baby's latch and Breastfeeding is only mildly uncomfortable. But now I am concerned about how to avoid thrush. I was told to use moistened hydrogel pads on my nipples to facilitate healing but I am a bit worried about developing yeast. Do you think it would be safe to put some plain yogurt on my nipples that way my baby would get some of the good bacteria? Does anyone have any other tips?

Re: preventing thrush?

You can also take a good probiotic supplement. It will transfer through your milk as well. If you put yogurt on your nipples, I would wipe it off before nursing, as babies can have trouble digesting cow's milk protein and it could cause stomach upset for your LO.
