What to do?
My nipples are very sore from baby learning to latch on. I had two nursing sessions in a row with no pain and then it came back full force. I have used Lanosh just about every time and I know there must be something else. I have nipple butter on its way to me from Northern Essence but I need something now. I am going to target later and don't remember if heat or cold works. I was not this successful in the beginning with bf DD1 and things are going well so far, but need advice/help on what to do.
DD2 is a little over a week old. Advertisement |

Re: What to do?
Yes, cradle hold, football hold, lying down. Changing positions does help and the latch is getting better, just my nipples are so sore, especially after she cluster feeds late at night (she has been doing this for three days now and owwweeeeee!

Re: What to do?
Are they cracked and/or bleeding at all? One thing that worked well for me was after the baby is finished eating express a little bm and rub that on your nipples. Also letting them airdry helps. A great resource that I used a lot was kellymom.com - everything you could possibly want to know about bf is on there! Good luck you are doing well keep it up!!

Re: What to do?
I echo the advice to express a little milk to put on them and let them air dry. Also, you could go to and get help there via a number of resources.

Re: What to do?
Soothies! Oh how I loved soothies gel pads.
I would chill them in the fridge while DS nursed, then put them on after letting my nips airdry. So nice. You can rinse them and reuse, too. ![]() http://www.soothies.com/ I got mine at Fred Meyer (Kroger) in the baby aisle.

Re: What to do?
Playtex also sells those soothies type things, i plan on getting some when i will be closer to needing them.
i never used lanisoh, i loved Purelan 500 by Medela, i would put this stuff on after my shower, and again after the baby eats, the soreness lasts up to 2 weeks then your nips should toughen up ![]() |

Re: What to do?
ok well...i never ever never recommend for a mama to use lanolin. it doesnt let your nipple dry out, and that doesnt allow them to efficiently heal, which means more pain. some of the pp suggested just expressing some milk and letting it dry. i cant stress that enough. theres alot of healing properties in your milk..let them work.
