When did your DD start wearing a bra?

My oldest 12 started her period at 13 is 17 and wears a size 36 c/d
middle DD was 13 started at 14 is almost 16 wears a 34/36 B
Me at 8 ,period at 10 skipped the training bras was a 32 B by 10 a 34 B,by 18 40 D,after my 4th child a 42GG,after a breast reduction in Sept 12 I'm a 38 C/D.

My DD started developing breast buds a few months ago at about 10 1/2yo. Under some shirts she'll wear a cotton/spandex pullover typed sports bra. No hooks, no padding, and very easy and comfortable.

I can't imagine going without! I am so top heavy that they would sag to belly button. I get it if you are small...in curious how this actually works.

I think when you get her a bra I would talk to her about it...the main theme I see is the girls wing self-conscious of the changes. I wish my mom had been more open with me. I hope to have a great dialogue with my daughter but wouldn't know where to start. She is 5 and I am already trying to be as honest as possible about everything that she questions.

My dd is 11 and is wearing them. We started with a sports bra but she felt you could still see buds, and was self conscious, so she moved to lightly padded ones.

my mom bought me bras in the 4th grade, i remember i didnt start wearing them until the 5th grade because nobody else was. my sisters didnt have them until they were 11-12

DD1 is 8 and no where near ready for bras (thank goodness - I'm not ready for that yet). I begged my Mom for a training bra in 6th grade because all the other girls wore bras. Looking back I was still as flat as flat can be and totally didn't need one yet (and if I had known how much I'd grow to hate bras I totally would have held off). I was a 34C by the time I finished high school so I made up for lost time at some point in time.

If you saw me without one, you'd see this isn't for everyone.

I needed a bra (or something) in 3rd grade (so, age 8), at the least. I can remember wearing only big t shirts and hunching over all of 4th AND 5th grade, because they were growing and awkward. Right before 6th grade, my grandmother (finally!) gave me 2 bras that weren't training bras, but not sports bras. Tank style maybe? I guess she saw that my mom wasn't going to, and I had no clue how to ask. About 6 months later my mom awkwardly handed me a real bra. 34C. It fit. I was 12. I got my period a few months before 13.
I was a DD when I graduated.

Sigh. I miss my 18 year old boobs.

Because of how awkward and humiliating everything about puberty was for me, I've sworn I'll be diligent and careful about noticing anything in our daughter. She's teeny, 33lbs at 5, but that's not the only component.

My DD is 10 1/2 and still not ready. I know there are a few girls in her 4th grade class that are, but most aren't.

I've nursed 3 babies for a year or more, and still nursing the last 2 years out. I'm also older. If I skipped a bra, I'd kick my boobs as I walked.

Ahhh puberty. I was in 6th grade when I finally got a training bra. My sister, who was in the same class as me (5th/6th grade split) was kind enough to tell EVERYONE the first day I wore it to school. Leading up to it, my mom kept asking me if I wanted one. I always said NO! But then my younger brother and sister would tease me relentlessly about needing one...and I was too shy to tell my mom I'd changed my mind. My mom also kept wanting to measure me so she could get the "right" size. How embarrassing. My plan for my DD (who is only 2 right now) is to not be as weird as my mom was about all of it...but barring that (like, if she takes after me in the shy/embarrassed realm) I'll just go buy her a bunch of sizes, tell her to try them on and let me know which ones to take back to the store.
