Four things come not back: The spoken word; the sped arrow; the past life; and the neglected opportunity.

Re: Do you feel the need to know where your child is?
I don' necessarily need to know exactly where my kids are, but if I expect one thing and they are not doing what they said they would be, I would be irritated.
Having said that, I recall being like 13 and 14 and riding my bike all over my small town, across a busy state highway and so on with my friends. My oldest wasn't all that social, so tha sort of thing never came up with her. But the thought of any of my kids running around like that gives me anxiety. I will be working to get over that as my younger kids get older because I do feel that having that kind of independence is important.

Depends on what kid. My oldest is nearing 12 and I have accepted his growing up. My 4 yo I want to know where he is but I am just coming to terms with DH taking him & me not knowing. Anybody else, I might have a heart attack. As for the baby, he isn't going anywhere without me! I can leave him with my mom & DH, if they are staying where I left them.

Re: Do you feel the need to know where your child is?
I'd like to know. I wouldn't be worried or panicked if I woke up from a nap and DS's and DH were gone, but I think the courteous thing to do would be leave a note or drop a text.

Re: Do you feel the need to know where your child is?
If they are with DH, my parents, or my MIL - I don't need to know. I trust those people and their judgement absolutely and completely. If they are with anyone else, I had better know where they are and have a general idea of what they are up to at all times. We do have other people watch them and I check in often.
