Baby with dairy allergy

my 9 month old has been allergic to dairy through my breast milk since he was about a month old. He EBF and so I've been off dairy for along time now. Not that I will wean him anytime soon, but my mother in law said that the longer I keep him off of dairy the more likely he won't have issues with it. So my question is, when he does wean, what do I give him then... I drink almond milk now, but what would you give a weaning baby instead of whole milk?! Thinking about this gives me anxiety!

We did goat's milk after weaning. My kids no longer do milk, honestly. They just do not care fore it. I will say my son with the milk protein allergy, no longer has it. His was bad too.

With all 4 I have nursed well past the 2 year period it is recommended to give them full fat milk. My 6 yo is still very sensitive to cows milk protein. He drinks rice milk now.

Once they are bigger they really only need to nurse a few times a day to get what they need.

In the second year (12-23 months), 448 mL of breastmilk provides:
29% of energy requirements
43% of protein requirements
36% of calcium requirements
75% of vitamin A requirements
76% of folate requirements
94% of vitamin B12 requirements
60% of vitamin C requirements

Re: Baby with dairy allergy

I had to avoid dairy with all three of my kids while nursing. When they turned a year old, I gave them cow's milk to see if they had outgrown it and they were all fine.

We only drink cow's milk here which is why the kids get it, but if you normally drink almond milk then I am sure that is fine for the baby to drink too. I'm actually contemplating trying to give my 14 month old almond milk because she doesn't seem to like to taste of cow's milk- I guess compared to breast milk it must taste terrible. She knows that I'm going to nurse her at night so she must be saying to herself "the heck with this junk in the sippy cup".
SAHM to three wonderful monsters: Tyler 6, Alli 4 and Jilly Billy 2. And all I have to say is thank God for wine!
