I keep things minimal in our home. Problem is, kids keep bringing things home with them from friends, well meaning grandparents, etc.

It seems like a never ending battle.

For a family of 5 it seems we bring a lot of stuff into the house and produce a lot of garbage...Is is just me?

I haven't been back in ages, but here is a picture of our living room in our new house. This is from the first set of things that were moved in (we're moving in in stages). I still need to add a picture and some lamps, and probably an armchair, some curtains, etc. But i think it's coming along nicely.

The rest of the house is basically bare, we sleep on inflatable beds when we are there, so I wont post pics of that yet.

I need to get pics of the kids bedroom and bathroom. They are the two rooms that I have done that stay done. The living room and dining room are pretty much done as well. Our bed room is the catch all room so it is quite cluttered. Totally functional but looking at it all bothers me. So lots of work to still do but in 3 years we have gotten rid of probably 60% of our stuff. Haven't missed it and still going through things because I know there is more to go.

Thanks! It was quite a find! A genuine Lily Pulitzer found at a thrift store for $10 :-)

Re: pictures of minimalists homes

hi ladies! I loved reading through this thread... we are a family of 5 kids 2 adults radically downsizing because my DH is going back to school and we will be living in student family housing in a different state. rather then move stuff and then move again when he is done we just want to get rid of most everything and then just get new stuff when we land at our final destination in a few years...

any advice at where to start? I've been going through the books, and toys clothes but there just seems to be more and more stuff!

Any advice?

Okay! I finally got around to taking some photos. We are six of us in a 1500 sq ft bungalow. I've taken the last year to radically purge. It is a work in progress, but I'm loving our simple space. I'll try to post photos of upstairs today too.
