My first was an oops the same way! I was shocked, to say the least.

Baby #3 was from SIX days before ovulation. We weren't avoiding, but not actively trying. She just really wanted to be here!

My cycles were 28 days with ovulation on day 19. At times 25/26 days with ovulation on day 17. Definitely not the "norm"/average.

Re: So when was this kid concieved??

I agree that 28 day cycles doesn't mean o on cd14. But in the case of OP, they used protection all the way until cd23, so it wasn't like a later o date wasn't accounted for. I mean, it *shouldn't* have mattered if she o'd on cd14 or cd20 or anywhere in between, because they used protection from cd9 to cd23. That wasn't 3 days before and after o, that was 3 days before and after her potentially fertile range, which was 9 days long, which makes 15 days of using protection. I guess maybe they could have started with protection an extra day or two earlier just to be extra safe in case of *earlier* ovulation. And if she had o'd especially late, she would have gotten a BFP on 7dpo. This doesn't seem like the most likely explanation to me, especially since o'ing on cd 24 with a regular 28 day cycle is very common / likely, and even if it were, then the LP would be to short to likely support a pregnancy.

I think the point most were making is that if you don't do more than count days of cycle length, you really have no idea when ovulation occurred. Ovulating before cd14 is not unheard of. Ovulation on day 12 is likely common. Catching 3do sperm wouldn't be an outlandish possibility.

It could be a condom issue, it could be condom user error (not enough info to know), or it could be simply she didn't use protection at the right time. If you don't actually know what your body is doing, it is just a wild guess.

I'll admit that I'm relatively new to tracking my exact fertility but I do know the sighs of O'ing. I had none of those after CD 23 when we stopped using protection. In addition my tests were so light on Monday the 14th CD30 that the likely hood I concieved CD 12 didn't seem possible. I was trying to get different opinions. I appreciate all the input. In all likelihood it was a condom failure/error we'll never know. All we can do is pray for a healthy child.
