Yes! Get a case! I bought one for each of my two children last Christmas from Best Buy and sprung for the 2 year accident replacement plan. Right before Christmas, my daughter shattered her screen (no case. Also, both of them had developed very loose charging connections over the past 6 months. Best Buy took both back, no questions asked, and promptly sent us a new ones. So, I would look into a protection plan that covers accidents. Also, I don't suggest using the kindle while it charges, which I suspect is why that became loose over time.

I have honestly never used a stylus. I have one for it, with the soft tip, but I never used it. It is easier, and more convenient, to just use my finger. *shrug*

The cover I have slides over my kindle, and when I hold it in the horizontal position it slides off. I wouldn't get any cover that comes off on its own, in the future.

I saved up my Amazon gcs and got an otterbox for mine. it doubles the weight, but I feel better letting the kids use my kindle now. it comes with a screen protector integrated into the case.

I think this is what I'm going to do, since I just cashed in for one $5 amazon gc. I need to work on my swaggin a little bit more anyways so this will give me something to work towards.

I got our kindle fire for christmas, dh didn't buy any accessories for it.

I kinda wish we had a case with a sturdy stand, I have it on my lap a lot, and a case might give me something more to hold onto.

The fire seems pretty sturdy, my nearly 2yo has dropped it a few times and its fine.

Its not really convienent to type on, I hate touchscreen typing.
I mostly use it for surfing/reading and watching videos on prime.
