Re: When in other's homes

of course, if they played with the toys and helped to make the mess then why would they be excused from cleaning up after themselves? That would just seem to teach them that they only have to be responsible for their environment when they are in their own house.

Re: When in other's homes

We always offer. Some of our friends prefer to do the cleaning up themselves, so that things get back in the right places. Otherwise, she helps clean.

Yes always and it bugs me when parents don't teach their kids this to be honest

As for the OP's question, yes. Even if the friend insists it is ok, my kids pick up after themselves.

Most definitely. It irks me when kids come over, trash my home and then they leave without a second thought. It actually bugs me a little when I tell DS1 to help pick up and they are told not to worry about it. I'm trying to instil responsibility, darn it!

Yes. I expect them to "leave it how they found it". I like things in their proper place at home, so the kids are pretty good about putting things back from where they got them. We have some friends whose kids rooms are very messy/cluttered. In those cases I just expect them to pick up whatever they played with and put it somewhere off the floor.

Yup I sure do. I tell my kids we have to respect their home and property.
