Bellybutton problems?
DS2 has a..bellybutton issue
![]() He has a really deep belly button, and I occasionally clean it with a q-tip or it gets smelly. Well yesterday I went to clean it and it was extra smelly, and when I looked inside it was super red and on the inside/side of it, there were really teeny almost whitehead looking things (but much, much, smaller, like little speckles) inside strung together in a line. Is is yeast, or a fungal thing? I've been cleaning it now with a tiny drop of TTO diluted in water and it look a little less red, but the white strings are still there.

Re: Bellybutton problems?
hmm not sure but the TTO seems like a good place to start.

Re: Bellybutton problems?
Ya, I thought it might kill whatever bacteria is in there. When I first noticed, I actually cleaned it with some hydrogen peroxide and it really bubbled so I know there is something wrong in there
![]() I don't know if I should try something else too..maybe probiotics, or plain yogurt? If it was yeast, I guess it might kill it.

Re: Bellybutton problems?
When I did a rotation in graduate school (nursing) with nurse practitioners I saw a lot of belly button infections, nearly one a day. Most all started from q-tip cleaning. So my advice is to stop with the qtip, you can get a syringe and squirt water, or soapy water in there good. Its ok for belly buttons to be a little stinky.
TTO is a good place to start but if it doesn't start healing up quick I would get him into the doctor and get a topical prescription for it.

Re: Bellybutton problems?
I got a stinky deep belly button. I clean with q tip to get it clean every month or so like lint and or fuzzy stuff comes out. Just like ears and wax. So if you do it lots try not doing it so much. I remember seeing a brush to clean belly Burtons..try something like that...
