Should I get another carrier?

I'm going to have a newborn in June and a 19 month old plus my daycare will start again (with my mom's help) in July. I have a Mei Tai and a woven wrap. I didn't start using them until my daughter was 3 months. Are either of these good with a newborn? I'm worried about the baby smooshing down and suffocating. Also since I"m bending over a lot and sitting on the floor with little kids would a something else like an ergo be better? Or a ring sling? I like the mei tai and woven wrap but the mei tai starts to get uncomfortable after a while and the woven wrap takes so long to put on. I need to pop baby in and out a lot I'd think.

A wrap would be perfect for a newbie.

ETA: just read the whole thing. Def go with an Ergo. You don't need the infant insert, just use a receiving blanket rolled and placed under baby's bum.

I like Becos for ease of use. The infant insert comes with it and once your baby is a little bigger, it is so easy to just throw them your back - just like a backpack! It's awesome!

Ergos are nice too, since they are so easy to get baby in and out when worn on the front.

I think either would be a good choice.

My LO is kind of schlumpy, so he can't be in a MT or SSC. He's just a little round glob of goo right now. It's too cute, but I can only carry him in a RS or a wrap. RS's are tough to get adjusted just right to hold him up.

Given that you have a MT and a woven, I'd grab a ring sling, personally, especially if you have a tight budget. I don't see too much difference between an SSC and a MT as far as use goes, so you may need/want something that is completely different.

Re: Should I get another carrier?

I love a stretchy wrap for the newborn phase. I used a Moby....I dont know what I would have done without it this time around. She was colicky and I needed to tend to my son. Now Im on to a structured carrier (Ergo), which I love too. I have an infant insert, but we were both too hot with it and it didn't seem like she liked it as much.
