Re: How many diapers per day is normal for 9 month old?

At that age, we were changing diapers about 9x a day. Even now, my toddler goes through at least 7 diapers a day.

Depending on how old that woman's baby is (like if it is near potty training), it might be possible to use 180 or less diapers a month, but also some people just don't change their babies often enough, in cloth or disposables.

my 7 month old goes through at the very least 12 changes a day not including extra poopy days or any overnight changes! even when we used sposies with our first babies i would never go longer than 3 hrs thats disgusting and not healthy for any babys bum!

Do people actually go a month on 180 diapers? My son FILLS 9 or 10 diapers a day. I don't change if it's just a teeny tinkle because I use staydry diapers.
There is no way a pack of 180 sposies would last me a month if I were full-time diapering with them. My son poops at least 3 times a day, too...but I have not been concerned because they are ploppable and not like diarrhea (sorry if this is TMI).

As it is now, I use sposies only when he has a rash, or if we are out of the house all day and I'd have to carry a poopy in my bag for 6+ hours....and 1 box has lasted me three months already and still half is left. But DS swamps those .....

How many diapers is normal for 9 months?

I thought the SAME thing when I read that. No way would that work for my baby. Just another reason I love cloth. Maybe when they are older... of course by then you are getting less sposies per box but the price is staying the same so I don't think it would be cheaper for us.

We sometimes change every hour on the hour. Especially during teething rash time. I would say the minmum is 8 diapers a day. Have gone through as much as 12. Yes for my 9 month old.

Re: How many diapers per day is normal for 9 month old?

I have a 15 month old. We go through 8-10 per day. IMO 6 diapers per day to make 180 last a month is not changing the diaper enough throughout the day. I just don't see how the baby wouldn't be sitting in pee or poop for too long changing only 6 times in a day unless that baby is really, really close to PL'ing

Personally I couldn't imagine letting my son sit in his wet diaper for so long, sposies or cloth.

My DS is also 15 months old and we've had lots of 6 diaper days. He sleeps ~12 hours uninterrupted at night with no change. So that means his "day" diapers last an average of ~2.5 hours each. He is checked every two hours at daycare and I would say that several times per week they find him bone dry (and I can confirm since I have to empty the wetbag in the evening). Sometimes when we get home in the evening I also find him bone dry (about 2hrs after his last change). He also usually only poops once per day. Of course, on weekends when we're home together I often have him in a coverless fitted and change him as soon as he's wet even if it's every 30 minutes :-)

For reference, DS currently gets ~15oz per day of breast milk and 12oz per day of cow's milk, plus water "at will." But the vast majority of his intake is in solid form.

None of this is to excuse using only 3-4 diapers per day, which I think would be pretty terrible, but I just wanted to reassure you that if your LO starts going through fewer diapers you won't be alone

Re: How many diapers per day is normal for 9 month old?

At 9 months depending on his intake we were going through 8-12 diapers a day. I don't know what size she is talking about but at that age my son was by weight have been in size 3 maybe four. When I check out diapers at Walmart I never see 180'in a box. More like 120 even in he $35 box. So $70+ for diapers and we would still need to put out for wipes. When I figured it out based on our usage and preferred diaper we would spend on average $100 monthly between diapers and wipes. This doesn't take into account the month my son had chronic diarrhea because of food sesitivities. This would have cost us more in sposies but just meant an extra load or two of diapers.

Re: How many diapers per day is normal for 9 month old?

At 9 months, I actually posted a thread concerned because DD was going through 18-26 diapers in 24 hours. She was fine and just hated being the tiniest bit wet. There's no "normal" number, as long as they are healthy.

For sure, sposies would have bankrupted us.

I can't remember but even in sposies for 6 months we paid more than cds did. Little wet & she was screaming bloody murder. I think 50 lasted few days if that. 180 no way... we were going through economy in like month to month & half.....

Re: How many diapers per day is normal for 9 month old?

This is reassuring me. Thanks, mamas! I know my son eats a ton. Five 9 ounce bottles a day and three meals of pureed food, usually about 8 ounces of puree....like 3 baby bowls. Thankfully a friend gave me a baby bullet because he can eat 3 jars of baby food in one meal, so it is much cheaper to make my own food for him.

I think my son is kind of in the range of what everone else is saying for 9 months. He's been in a size 4 sposie when he does wear them, for months due to his height and high rise, so I am thankful for cloth...
I am sure it will save me money in the end.
