First cloth wipes

I want to try this but haven't had time yet! What type of fabric do you ladies recommend? I know I can use old receiving blankets but in a former life I quilted so I have a TON of fabric on bolts lying around needing a home!

I've read that cotton terry and flannel are best. Fleece smears poop around. I'm sure anything absorbent and won't smear will work well I know a lot of people just use washcloths. Or tshirts! But tshirts will curl.
