one year old suddenly changed latch. OUCH!
My one year old just got some teeth in the past few weeks, and everything was going just fine. Until about a week ago when he suddenly changed his latch so that he's only taking in the nipple and then if he doesn't have a good enough grip, he bites! I am SO SORE!!! Does anyone have suggestions on how to correct his latch now? Neither of us is anywhere near being ready to wean and I'd really hate to be forced to before we're ready. Any suggestions are welcome!

He is old enough to understand that if he doesn't nursey right, he doesn't nursey at all.
Scream 'Yeow!' a few times, give him a terrible look, puull away like i hurts as much as you say and he WILL catch on. |

Make sure he opens wide and do not allow the shallow latch. When he bites say ouch and no bite then remove him from the boob. Once my LO bites I put boobie away for awhile. If your biting you are not hungry.

Relieve the teething pain. Latch like when a newborn-don't allow a shallow latch. Firmly correct the biting and remove the breast for a while. Unfortunately, we go through this every time DD teethes. Use nipple cream to help ease your soreness.

Changing nursing positions seems to have done the trick for the most part. Weird. No more nursing in bed
