Killing Yeast in milk

So I've got thrush and maybe mastitis and I've been pumping to relieve the pressure cause I can't nurse because of a crack. I want to use the milk next week while I have a class and will be gone for 4 hours two nights in a row. How can I kill the yeast- or can I not. I know I can't freeze it, but can I microwavr or boil it? How do I do this? Thanks!

theres no need to do anything to the milk. just freeze it until your ready to use, and then thaw under warm running water.

Actually- you can't kill it- if there's yeast in the milk, there's yeast in the milk...coming from my dr and lc

Re: Killing Yeast in milk

I had thrush in the ducts. really really bad case 2 courses of 8w of diflucan daily plus otc remidies plus apno cream.

Dr. Jack Newman one of the leading experts on the subject emailed me back to say that indeed I could the frozen milk.

thrush is an overflow of candida yeast which EVERYONE has in their body. You just need to get it in the correct balance.

so I'd just freeze the milk and use it as needed. If you wanted to, you could just freeze it and mark it 'thrush' for backup/emergencies

FWIW, I froze the milk I had w/the thrush and fed it to dd later and she was not reinfected.

Hmmm we had thrush with my first daughter for six months undiganosed and we were using pumped "thrush milk" for two months after and it did reinfect us. That's why I didn't want to just freeze it this time. Hmmmm Not sure then what to do.

After all our struggles and eventually having to stop bfing because it wouldn't go away after lots of treatments, I 'd rather be safe than sorry imo.
