Re: If you had short labor w/1st, was 2nd also short or shorter?
My labor with #1 was about 8 hours long. My labor with #2 was 2.5 hours start to finish. I'm currently pregnant with #3 and am afraid I won't make it to the birth center in time and I'll be one of those stories you hear about one the news about women giving birth in traffic LOL

Re: If you had short labor w/1st, was 2nd also short or shorter?
My first was 7 hours from first niggle to delivery. Second was the same.
With the rest, I mostly had lots of prelabour/warning, and then a short (2-3hr) active labour. But my later babies have been born at home, so it's my midwife who has to rush out and worry about getting there on time, not me.

yes, my second was much much shorter.
my first labor was 10 hours (and that included an epidural pretty early on) my second labor was a little less than 4 hours (that included an epidural when I was already pretty far along- past 6 cm) You should try to get to the hospital promptly I would say. good luck!

Re: If you had short labor w/1st, was 2nd also short or shorter?
My first was 6 hours. I only made it to the hospital in time to push him out.
My second was 5 hours. I'm positive it would have been way shorter, but it was preterm labor and I was fighting it as hard as I could. My third was somewhere between 2 to 3 hours. It was unassisted, so I don't have exact times.
