Mama cloth- Serged or turned and topstitched?

I've been talking about making mama cloth for a while but I still haven't had my PPAF. I'm thinking things are heading back to normal soon, so id like to get some whipped up. I'm trying to decide between overlocking them or doing a T&T. What do you prefer, and why??

I only have T&T mama cloth (pantiliners only so far), but I'm pretty sensitive and picky about things like that and in my mind I think the serged edge would be uncomfy. But that is all in my head!

I have both in my collection. I honnestly can't say I notice a difference. Some of my my favs are Sew Fussy and NewMoon pads and they are serged. But I also have T&T pads i just love too. Maybe I'm just too easy to please. That said however early on in my move to Mama Cloth I had a wicked UTI the only pads I could tolerate were the New Moons... it was probably more the soft flannel but the serged edges didn't bug me at all even then.

I prefer t&t by far as I do find serged seams irritate me after a bit. T&T makes them a little thicker but softer vs serged which is trimmer but can be rough around the edges.

I have both and I prefer serged. I have two serged brands, one of them being Homestead Emporium, and I have to say her skill is very good. I find the t&t is more bulky around the edges but that may also be skill or a lack thereof or just preference. I always reach for my HE first.

Thanks for the input ladies! I think I'll try t+t since they look nicer to me. What's your favorite top fabric? Can I use micro fleece? I've got a bunch of scraps from diaper making.

You can use microfleece. I like bamboo velour or cotton velour for the tops. I am not a huge fan of flannel or cotton. A lot of people like minky also.

I prefer T&T. Serged edge gave me a lot of irritation. It's trimmer, but I find T&T much more comfortable. I think T&T tends to look nicer, too. More polished.

Well I made my first one and it was a complete failure!!luckily I used scrap fabric. I think I need a better pattern.....

Try them both ways. You never know what you might like! Both ways have their advantages and disadvantages. For wearing them I like both just the same. For sewing them, outside stitching is quicker and makes a trimmer product. T&T makes them a little thicker but looks neater.
