DH really wanted a laser printer as we haven't ever had good luck with an inkjet. I did quite a bit of research and decided on this one as it is fairly inexpensive and the replacement cartridges are very cheap too.

I couldn't be more pleased with this printer. I use it a lot and we have replaced the black cartridge twice and each color once since buying it in September.

I can say that it is not suitable for photos, even though it says it is capable.
Oh that one is pretty! lol

I do use mine for pictures a lot, they aren't any grainier than the ones we get from the guy that does "antique" photos at the fair and uses a professional printer.

Re: What printer do you have?

We have an Epson NX515 and are happy with it. I think it cost a little under $100. It is a printer/scanner combination with wifi and prints fast. The quality is really good too. The only issue we have is we don't print very much so we have to run the self cleaner several times a couple times a year so it prevents little lines from going though the print. We have tried the non OEM ink off of one of the sellers on eBay and it works very well making the ink affordable.

Re: What printer do you have?

If you don't need color and want the ink to last much longer than any inkjet I highly recommend Brother's laser printer http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/re.../dp/B00450DVDY

Little pricey with the Wifi functionality but beats with not having to replace the toner yet..we had it for close to a year now too.
