Blueberries cut into quarters are a big hit for my LO. She also loves homemade chicken soup. I give her small soft chunks of all the veggies and chicken and she picks them up. Then I'll spoon feed her the broth. Steamed sweet potato and steamed green beans are also some favorites.

I second the chicken soup suggestion! LO absolutely loves the taste and warmth of broth. And everything is soft and healthy

Re: Finger food ideas
We liked baked chicken (cut into strips that were McDonald's French Fries size), sweet potato "fries", cooked carrot sticks, puffed corn, cucumber strips (English, seedless)

Re: Finger food ideas
Mine really really loved to mash black beans at that age. He would pick them up and mash with his gums. He also loved steamed peas, shredded cheese, and sweet potato or butternut squash small chunks.

Re: Finger food ideas
My guy loves banana. It can be constipating though, so I try to mix it with a veggie--steamed and pureed broccoli, or carrot. I just tried a mango puree this week with him (he's ten months) and mixed it with steamed and pureed apple and the much-loved banana. It was a hit.

Re: Finger food ideas
I am getting good at all the fruits and veggies but I need help on how to introduce and make the meats. Also, what beans are favorites?

Re: Finger food ideas
My baby refused pureed meats, but loves chunks of chicken. I just cook up some chicken breasts or thighs without salt and tear it into reasonably sized pieces. She uses her front teeth to rip off shreds, and it seems to work fine. She also loves deli meat, but I try not to give it to her often since it's high in sodium.
As for beans, we started with mushy red lentils and stirred them into other purees. After that, soft cooked lima beans are good, or any other beans that you like. |
