The toddler o&a I tried didn't have infant insert, I wouldn't get one with that.
I am a person who doesn't like the KP's. the straps are too puffy for me. Kangas headrest makes it so they can have their arms out with no head flopping or back strain Sent from Future Dwight Advertisement

Re: If I was going to buy ONE preschool SSC...
I would also suggest a Kanga XT or XTP. I used to have an XT for my dd but she started refusing to be worn after a while. I also really like KPs but I kind of prefer Kangas for larger kiddos.
http://www.bloo-kangaroo.com/carriers/KXTP.html I'm a fluffy mom and a standard fit me perfectly with extra room. A standard KP fits me as well though, I guess it's all in your build and where you carry your weight. GL!

Re: If I was going to buy ONE preschool SSC...
I have a preschool standard kinderpack and can still carry my 45 lb 5 yo just fine in it! It is super comfy thanks to the thick padding on the shoulders. I did get the pfa's so that dh and I could both use it. Here is a picture from this past fall of dh wearing her, she hasn't gotten any bigger. She still has plenty of room in it too.

Kinderpack all the way. If you offered me $10,000 for our Toddler Kinderpack, I wouldn't sell it (well, maybe I would, but then I'd use the money to buy a few more!).
DD became too tall for the Ergo by 18m, but still wanted to be carried. The Toddler Kinderpack is so roomy and comfortable for both DD and I (or DH), there's just no comparison to the Ergo. DH carried her through Uruguay for a month. She is 4' and 36lb, but has plenty of growing room in the Toddler size. I can even wear her comfortably at almost 8m preggo - we're featured in a baby wearing fashion show this weekend! We bought an infant KP for our newbie on the way, too! |

Another vote for Kinderpack. I had one that was plus sized and thought it fit soo much better than an Ergo or O & A, for my sizing. Found it very comfy. Ended up selling it and making my own in that design. Kinderpacks are great!!

Kinderpack! Our babywearing group library has a bunch of toddler sized options, and the kinderpack is my favorite. The Olives & Applesauce is comfortable once my DS is in it, but I find the built-in infant insert makes it harder to get him seated properly for a back carry. I'm probably going to buy a KP for myself sometime this summer.
