Re: Yarn Score!

This makes me curious...we have a consignment fabric shop in the area...and she has TONS of yarn. However, I don't know the difference in yarns...what do I look for? I was thinking about checking them out all the time and just passing on my good finds to mamas on here that would like them for the cost I get them for Some of this yarn is darned expensive around here...\

It's really hard to tell good wool yarn in a consignment setting. There are a lot of acrylic and blend yarns that can seem like wool. Without doing a burn test or seeing a brand/colorway you recognize, I wouldn't risk it.

Manos yarn is a known quantity, so this was just uneven dye lots or overstock skeins on their normal wool bases. I couldn't accidentally get cotton or acrylic (though cotton is fairly easy to identify if you feel it).
