Help! Sizing and Number of Woolies Questions :)
Let me say that I totally should know the answers to these questions, since I knit for people all the time, but I only used wool for DS1 very part time. So...
What age do you think 16" hips and 18" rise will fit? What about 18" hips? Also, what is the minimum number of woolies you like to have? I love wool once poop is a bit more solid, and I am trying to knit up all the yarn I have We alternate with wool and PUL covers. My first son was long and lean, and I am guessing this little man will be as well (he's almost 4 weeks old and has a similar build).

I use wool exclusively on my DS2 and I'd say he has at least 4 tops at all times & between 5-8 knits & maybe 6-10 recycled/interlocks that fit.
Here's a link to my size chart on Facebook.

Re: Help! Sizing and Number of Woolies Questions :)
I like for my kids to have 10 pairs of pants and an equal number of shirts in the toddler stage. Days like today my son has gone through 2-3 sets of clothing because he just gets into things. So ten outfits is really only 3-5 days depending on how many outfits he goes through that week. We do wool exclusively.

Re: Help! Sizing and Number of Woolies Questions :)
When we were doing wool exclusively, I think my DD had 15 pairs of longies for the colder months. Some of those had mulitiple matching tees, some just one depending on the CW. As for hips size, she is 2.5 yrs and just now has an 18 inch hip, so I'm of no help. I never minded the hips being a bit on the big side, as I like the look of looser fitting woolies personally (and if they'd been knit for her actual measurements, I would have had a devil of a time reselling as she was/is a thin kid).

We did wool with a lot of coverless time in the summer. DS was big and grew fast, so I assumed DD would be the same and made only the bare minimum in tiny sizes. I had 4 to start, so I'd have 2 to alternate while 2 were drying. Tiny stuff knits up quickly, so you can always add more if baby stays in that size a while.

Re: Help! Sizing and Number of Woolies Questions :)
My son is 12weeks. He would fit 16rise/18hip from 3-6months. imo
My babes are long and lean as well. to answer your Q's the 16hip would be for newborns. 18rise is from 1year-until 18m/2y or pt depending on your lo. amount of wool is very variable depending on what you prefer. To have 4 is the absolute bare min(squeaking by), 6 is good/perfect(workhorse stash) and 12 would be plenty, more than 12 is indulgement(but where most people like to be) lol. That would be using wool exclusively as diaper covers.

Re: Help! Sizing and Number of Woolies Questions :)
I was thinking 16in hips would be small, 18 medium and 20+ for toddler. DD is petite but thick lol and she needs hips minimum of 20in ( I have just figured this out) after purchasing 3 pairs that were to small. I have also figured out (finally) that the inseam or length depends on rise
I can use a 9in if the rise is longer, shorter rise we need a longer inseam.... Wool is complicated but we LOVE it.
