Has anyone ever created their own fabric?

I'm searching all over for the perfect fabric for my family's Easter outfits. Last year I used Micheal Miller's backyard bugs (I still love that print!) but this year I'm not finding anything that I super love.

My sister is an amazing artist so I was thinking of having her draw up something and having fabric created at Spoonflower. Has anyone done this?

Other than Tie Dye...no. I'd love to! If you decide to do this could you come back and tell us the cost, quantity minimums, and what you think of the quality?

Here is their FAQ page:
http://www.spoonflower.com/designs/new?create=fabric

It looks like there is no minimum to buy but the fabric starts at $15.75 a yard. It would totally be worth it to me though since I only plan to make small things with it, ties for the big boys and my husband (and if my sister did the fabric probably her husband) and a vest and bow tie for my little guy. I'd use it to complement solid/stripes/whatever of a cheaper fabric for my skirt (and my sister) and then my two nieces would have stuff out of it too. I bet I could get away with just 2 yards. If we do it I will for sure come back and let you know!

Wow, I want to check that out!!!! I did have Malden Mills mill fabric for me once but I had to get 440yards as I recall LOL. I used one of their patterns but got to create my own colorway, if I had done my own print it would have cost a ton more.
