question about CALGON and TIDE

I if I do understand correctly, using CALGON with any detergent of my choice, and having hard water, would just suppress the "hard water" problem?
I use TIDE on clothes and The hot chocolate, tomato, carrots stains do not come out, whether I wash in hot or cold... Same with COUNTRY SAVE.
Should I add washing soda or something else to the detergent? Oxy clean does not seem to make any big difference.
I have aFL if that matters.
I read somewhere that COUNTRy SAVE does not work well in hard water so I thought adding calgon should help...
Any thread that I should read about that maybe?
TIA for your help!
