ready for solids in all aspects except one....
anything but bm and he will throw up randomly hours later.
He will be 9 mo at the end of this month and around 8 mo, although I wanted to wait longer, he really, really really seems ready! He swipes stuff off our plates, has an awesome pincher grasp, can chew and swallow and so forth. Problem is, no matter what he has (bland things- banana, white rice, etc and only one thing per every few days), a few hours later, he throws up. So it's not a gagging thing. He doesn't fuss either, just throws up. Anyone else experience this? I am happy to wait longer, but he is pretty aware and mad when we eat, lol. Also, even though I have stopped giving him stuff, Dh will let him share a bit of banana or something....and then he pukes a few hours later

Does he eat a lot at each sitting? My son will throw up just a tiny bit if he has eaten too much and then goes to do something very active right away. If it's just a tiny bit, I wouldn't worry about it. If it's everything he ate plus some liquid, I would ask you ped.

no, the most he ate was about 1/5 of a banana and another time, like 6 or 7 whole o's cereal. He doesn't throw up the food undigested like someone does when they are sick, kwim and sorry for the tmi. It's just chunkier spit up, so he is digesting it, but it's not sitting well, I guess?

Re: ready for solids in all aspects except one....
The crazy thing is that DD just started to throw up this week. She has had some solids for awhile now(8 1/2 months) and now she will throw up randomly. Today I got her up from nap and was walking out to the living room and she spit up even before I nursed her. She has never been a spitter and I am finding myself cleaning up spit up a LOT lately. I even cut out all solids for a few days and she spit up less but still was doing it.

Do you think maybe there's a lot of air going down with the food? My first 2 kids did it for a while, but they didn't do it as badly once they quit swallowing so much air and their tummies got used to the food. Maybe a little back patting might help? I also second the portion checking.

No no air. I mean we are talking about a bite or 2 of banana or a few o's cereal. And he's feeding himself, so it's not like purées where he is getting stuff shoveled into his mouth, kwim?

I am pretty sure she isn't getting air because she self feeds and won't eat a purreed anything. The only thing she will accept off a spoon is yogurt and even then she wants to do it.
