Re: I'm a teacher- should I send my kids to daycare over the summer
I'd send them two late morning/afternoons a week and run errands, relax, take a nap. I'd drop them off between 10 and 11, and pick them up around 4.
All the daycares here make you pay the full rate to keep your spot.

![]() I agree. Maybe just take them 1-2 days per week, or 2-3 mornings or something. Do whatever housework and what not that needs done around the house during that time so that when they are home with you the focus can be on them and not on laundry, dishes, cleaning, etc. it would make the time they were home with you more intentional.

Re: I'm a teacher- should I send my kids to daycare over the summer
My kids still go when I am off work at least two days. We have to pay for all 4 even if theynare not tnere. I take them later aroundn10is and pick up around 3. Gives me a time to get things done and have some me time.

In the past I've pulled them out, then going back was HARD. I plan to keep them in 2 days or 1 day a week and use that day to take care of anything difficult to do with multiple kiddos in tow.

But either way, you and they will be fine no matter what you choose.

Re: I'm a teacher- should I send my kids to daycare over the summer
Speaking on the side of a provider, I would want you to bring them. I have kept many teachers kids, mostly doing the part time thing over the summer. The ones that are pulled out completely have such a hard time coming back full time in August. Definitely use the time to get stuff done like cleaning and errands ( and even some mommy alone time!!). that way you can focus on the quality time with the kids the days you keep them home. Taking them later and picking up early is good too : )

Re: I'm a teacher- should I send my kids to daycare over the summer
My friend who is a P.E. teacher has a daycare that has the same policy. The space cannot be saved unless he goes to daycare over the summer at least part time. The better daycares in this area simply have that policy. She personally feels that it is better for him (not to mention her) to have that continuity so that the fall semester does not come as a shock. She has him go 2 days a week in the summer, maybe 3 once school draws nearer.
