Re: The babies who nap in sub-zero temps

I have a friend who lives in Sweden and this is totally normal. Sleeping in the cold, as well as leaving baby in stroller while you go in and run errands.

We sleep with the heat turned down, a ceiling fan and a big box fan blowing at us. We sleep this way all year round (with AC on in the summer too). I cannot sleep if it's warm/hot.

I guess I don't have an issue with babies sleeping in their prams on the balconies of their homes (supervised). But I would never, ever leave my baby unattended outside a store in a stroller. Napping or not. I really can't understand that.

I do however live to sleep in the cold air. I must have warm Jammie's and blankets to bundle in but a cold house is optimal for me.

We turn the temp down to 69* year round in our house at night....but not THAT cold.

If it was culturally accepted I'd totally do it...my little one already wears 100% wool, so I'm sure I'd have no trouble bundling him appropriately for an outdoor nap.

To be fair, the strollers in Sweden/Denmark are like proper toddler beds on wheels, with duvets and pillows and everything. It makes me irrationally jealous when I see these cute little three year olds staring imperiously out from their covers at all the minions bent double in a headwind hobbling over ice .

DOWN to 69? Our thermostat is set at 64 during the day and 55 at night right now.

DH and I lived in Copenhagen for 2 years and this is totally normal there. We at first couldn't wrap our minds around the concept due to thoughts of kidnapping - but with a crime rate next to nothing there was just no fear of that happening. Really. Its just an entirely different society. It was a really nice place to live and we have always wanted to go back.

Brr! Ours is 69 during day and 68 at night but old house and 2 stories- heat settles weird so tends to feel 5 degrees colder or warmer depending on time of day and what floor.

My mil told me she used to bundle her kids in their cribs and open the window in the room (close the door ).
In the middle of winter it must get pretty cold. We live in Canada lol
