do one size flats really work for bigger babes??

i am just wondering because ive only used the large flats from GMD since my DS has been big, i used smaller ones when he was smaller but after i got GMD i got rid of the others....

im just unsure if the one size will fit him around and rise wise..even with all the different folds..right now im mostly doing the kite fold..i think it is called, the rise is already too short for the regular fold..i dont remember what it is called...in a square then flip it over and fold the middle piece in thirds..my daughter says it looks like a rocket... lol anyways...

can u use the 27ish squre ones on like a 2-2 1/2 yr old..DS is 13 months but im guessing ill use them on him till he is around that age, thanks!!!

They do if you add extra absorption. So one pinned or snappid on and one padfolded inside.

I have had to adjust how I fold my flats as my son has grown. I still use the same fold. I just make the top and bottom wider now. I use the kite fold and have since my son was around 8 months old.

I got some 1-size flats from MMB, didn't have a high enough rise for my 26 month old definitely not absorbent enough by themselves.

The small GMDs are supposed to fit 0-40 lbs, but I cannot do certain folds on my 21 lb one year old. I was very disappointed about this and just might sell them. I love the origami fold (aka the one that looks like a rocket, lol) and the rise is too short with the GMD smalls.

I did try that fold on my son when we first bought flats for him but he was already to big for it. When baby gets bigger unfortunately not all the folds will work. I actually didn't care too much for the origami fold as it seemed like a lot of the fabric was at the waist instead of the wet zone.

My preference is for the kite fold. I find of all the folds I have tried it is the most adjustable for different sized babies.

Yes you will have to add extra absorption as baby gets bigger.

i really loved the oragami fold, with 2 flats doubled up, id just let DS go coverless around the house with that...but now, even with the large GMDs the rise is too short, even with one, hes just too tall for it now.

i ordered the flats i was looking at on etsy, im excited to try them, but im thinking i will have to stick to the kite fold, with a pad folded one on the inside which is what i ve been doing anyways...hopefully it works!

I find OS flats to work just like all other OS diapers - they don't fit a small newborn and they don't fit a large toddler. If you have an older baby and OS flats, I'd say they would work a lot better padfolded than folded and fastened on.

It depends how you want to use them.

Gmd smalls are working for us, birth to potty. We keep folding them differently. The pad fold in my sig line is truly OS, those flats pad fold in gDiapers medium and large, all the flat folds fit different sizes... These are a great size to go btp.

In my experience the origami is the hardest fold to adjust the rise for and requires the biggest flats to work on a bigger baby. I find the kite fold to be one of the best size adjustable folds like a pp said. You just have to add a doubler of some kind usually for bigger kids. I could use my LL flats (27ish by 25ish) on my 3 year old with the kite fold, no problem. Just had to have a doubler.
