what to buy?

just doing some research ATM. Baby #3 is due any day and we have our current car seat situation worked out. Right now we have our 2 older sons in Radian RXTs (one FF on the drivers side, one RF in the middle) and the newbies infant seat (Safety first Onboard 35) on the passenger side.

Im just wondering what to do when we stop using the infant seat?

Option one - purchase a third RXT for #3
Option two - pass ODS radian onto #3 and buy him a FF/booster combo

If option 2 would be better in the long run, what thin FF/Booster do you recommend, we need 3 across and anything much larger than a radian wont fit)

----------------------------------------------------------

DS #1 will likely be about 3.5 when we move baby into a convertible seat, hes in the 90th percentile for height and bounces between the 50th and 75th percentile for weight (hes currently about 37 inches tall and 30lbs)

We drive an 08 saturn astra

My Mood:
Re: what to buy?

3.5 seems young for a booster. Personally I would get another radian.

My son is recently 3 and he has been FF for a while but in a convertible seat. We are just now thinking about getting him a combination one. I am looking at the ones that are also booster but that allow him to be in a 5pt harness the longest.

Re: what to buy?

I wouldnt put him in a booster at 3.5 but i was thinking something like a Graco Nauti (sp?) would work, since its the FF seat with harness and then converts to a booster later on, since hes FF I wasnt sure if it would be a waste to buy another seat that can RF since we dont need that feature - KWIM?

Re: what to buy?

Graco Nautilus are quite wide (from what I can find googling, Radians are 17" and Nautilus are 19.5") so if space is at a premium I would look for something else, or if you can try one out in the store before buying it. I agree that buying him something that RF's is kind of pointless, but I'm not sure what the narrow combination seats are, we only have Nautilus.

Re: what to buy?

I figured the nautilus would be too wide, but it was the first example of something that would be similar to what we wanted, I think britax makes one as well (frontier maybe?) but im not sure its much thinner, everything ive seen looks so wide in comparison to our radians.

Re: what to buy?

Frontier seems to be the same width as the Nautilus! I found this site though, looks like the Harmony Defender is as narrow as a Radian, I'm not sure if they have them here in Canada, have never seen them (WalMart carries them I think)

Re: what to buy?

You're welcome I'm going to have a look at Wal Mart next time I go to see if they have those Harmony seats, we will need to have 3 across in DH's car by next fall. I think I saw a Harmony Booster at Wal Mart once, but I could just be dreaming that one up!
