Thank you! Your doll is too, I love the hair!

My DD loved the doll while I was making it, grabbing the head to kiss the face, carrying the head around, etc. But she got mad when I put a dress on her and once I added hair she got really upset every time her hair was in her face. So I took the doll to put her hair in pig tails and DD decided she really wanted it and cried for "baby" but when I gave her back, she took one look at the new hairstyle and threw her down

Now she pretty much only picks it up to get me to say "Aw, so sweet" when she hugs it or gives it to me to hug. All that to say that she much prefer a baby Ariel doll she got for Christmas from my aunt

Re: Waldorf Doll Sew Along

So cute!!!!! Love them all.

I am not sure how to fix the hair with knots, except to maybe sew the hair on next time.

My daughter also loves the dolls while I make them but has no interest when they are done, she is 2 years old. I am going to try making her a heavy baby cause she is kinda sensory seeking.

I just bought a kit from weir but I didn't get any hair. I want a different type of hair. I was going to order from dragonfly's hallow but I'm not sure how much I need. I was going to crochet a cap and hook the yarn in (if that's the correct term). Is one of these would I need to have butt length hair on a 16" doll?

Re: Waldorf Doll Sew Along

I made my first a doll for her second Christmas! Do you purchase the head already made? I have been thinking about doing that for my second.

I bought a head premade once and I didn't use it lol I still have it and I pretty much used into gauge the size and string alignment so I could get a good looking head. I actually don't mind making heads anymore. I can whip them up really quick.

I was told for individual crocheted into a cap I'd need 250yards. I don't know how to crochet and am too much of a cheapskate to spend that much on yarn. I sew it on or buy a crochet cap of mohair and brush it out or buy mohair fabric and sew it a wig. I find Bungalow Bear on etsy to be the best supplier. Seriously I've asked her a bazillion questions and she's super sweet and nice even when I stalked her down on fb asking her tons if questions. She even sent me free samples with my order! Not like itty bitty samples but samples I could actually use to see if I liked it. I even messaged her on her anniversary asking her a ton if questions and she sewed a wig cap real quick to show me since I didn't understand the pattern. I of course didn't know it was her anniversary when I started my million questions. She's amazing and I can't even begin to say how amazing and helpful she's been to my learning. Her wool is amazing too!

That's a great idea, the one I made was a little disproportioned, so I love the idea of using it as a guide. Thanks! I have also heard of starting with a felted ball of yarn to help with shaping.

I always started with a felted ball but its about the size of a ping pong ball and I felt mine in the washer so I run it through a few times and do like 10 at one time

Re: Waldorf Doll Sew Along

I've been searching high-and-low for a Sweet Seriah Nurture Babies doll pattern. If anyone has one that they wouldn't mind parting with or know someone who is no longer using their pattern, please let me know. I am very, very interested in buying it.

Please contact me at: mary.bader@gmail.com
