Thoughts needed

I'm about to strart potty training my son, but don't want to spend a lot of money on his trainers. We have some Gerber trainers from my daughter, that are still fine. The problem is they are too big around the waist. Is there a way I can add some elastic to them so they stay on? I'm looking at buying him some 18 month ones to round out our stash... the ones we have already are 2T and 3T.

any ideas would be great.

Re: Thoughts needed

You could probably add some FOE around the waist, just fold it over the existing waistband? Or make a teeny hole in the waistband and thread some 1/4" elastic through?
